NEWS from Our Principal
Hello Students and Families of The Studios @ Central,
Here are some current highlights for academics, behavior, safety, and VAPA!
Academics: The goal in each grade level is for students to learn the content based on CA State Content Standards. If your student is having difficulty or not passing, please reach out to your child’s teachers. We currently offer after school tutoring as well for students to get caught up and stay on top of their assignments.
In 7th and 8th grade, each student is required to pass core academic classes in order to walk at the Promotion Ceremony at the end of Eighth Grade. OCESD and our school is looking into credit recovery options to help students who need to make up for failed courses. This could include summer school for seventh grade students or taking credit recovery class in place of the elective course.
Behavior: After winter break, there was an increase in physical aggression and altercations. School is not a place for such ways of dealing with issues. Peer conflict can be settled peacefully. Students can ask the counselor, principal, or a mentor staff member to help students resolve conflict. There are other options. Many of these situations have been based on second hand information and someone else jumping in when they think they are helping only to find out the information was made up or misunderstood. Please help us in providing a safe place for all by finding peaceful ways to resolve issues.
Safety: Safety includes mental and emotional safety as well as physical safety. OCESD has released a more user friendly platform for reporting bullying, it is called STOP IT! It is an online, anonymous reporting option. Once a student is referred, the counselor and anti bullying team will get an alert and be able to support the students.
VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts): Not only does our school offer VAPA classes, we also integrate the arts into our curriculum. In science, students can be found sketching diagrams or observations; in history, …..
